About Us

Inspire School of Dance was founded in 2002 by Kelly-Marie Cooke offering fun and friendly dance classes whilst at the same time maintaining a high level of professionalism and tuition.

We welcome girls and boys from 3 years upwards to learn Ballroom, Latin and Freestyle dance following the IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association) examination syllabus. As well as taking examinations, children are given the opportunity to participate in our dance school shows.

Ballroom and Latin classes are also offered for adults with regular social events held where skills learnt can be practiced and new friends made. Wedding dances and private lessons can be arranged where availability exists.

Classes are held on a Monday and Thursday evening as well as a Saturday at our venue in Coventry. Find our timetable and location under the Information section.

Inspire School of Dance continues to go from strength to strength, with our shows regularly sold out and excellent examination results. Inspire School of Dance prides itself on having a fully qualified Principal who is first aid trained and DBS checked for your total peace of mind.

Principal: Kelly-Marie

Kelly-Marie began dancing at a very young age studying Ballroom, Latin, Freestyle, Tap, Modern Theatre and Contemporary dance. She fell in love with Ballroom, Latin and Freestyle dance at Dot's School of Dance in Stoke-on-Trent where she grew up. Taking IDTA exams regularly with excellent results, Kelly-Marie quickly decided that she wanted to become a dance teacher. At 18, when she moved to Coventry, Kelly-Marie trained under Alan Wade and took her first professional teaching qualifications through the IDTA Associate Freestyle. Kelly-Marie was nominated by her examiner - Jill Kemp - for the John Dilworth scholarship after gaining 96%. Continuing with her professional training with Alan Wade and then later with Dawn Parker, Kelly-Marie continued to take further qualifications and now holds her Ballroom Associate, Latin Licentiate, Freestyle Fellowship, Line Dance Licentiate and Salsa Diploma. She has also passed the IDTA Educational Professional Award and has taught GCSE Dance with excellent results. Kelly-Marie has also been a member of the IDTA Midland Area committee and has lectured at area meetings. Kelly-Marie now juggles being a mum with working in a local primary school and running the dance school but hopes to fulfil her dreams of becoming an IDTA examiner soon.

Andy

Andy is Kelly-Marie's (long suffering) husband and a big presence within the dance school. He uses his teaching skills (Andy is the Deputy Headteacher at a local primary school) to help out with the children's classes on a Saturday. Andy loves dancing because it is both technical and creative. He is also a keen photographer and his work can be found in our rooms at dancing and also on the website. He has also been known to produce a dance school calendar!
